[Analysis] Pokemon GO Gen 3 Ghost Type : How Good they are ?

Trainers,

The Hype train has already left the station, and we now have the confirmation of Shuppet, Banette, Duskull, Dusclops, and Sableye are being introduced to Pokemon GO over the Halloween event. The Ghost-type confirmation comes from New Halloween Event splash screen which was found in the recent APK Teardown.

So the question comes How Good they are?

1. Banette

ATTACK 218
DEFENCE 127
STAMINA 128
MAX CP 2073

Banette is having the highest attack stats of all pure Ghost-type Pokemon, according to stats, there are some hopes that Banette can be a good attacker. Banette can easily take down Physic type Pokemon. Running simulation on Haunter who has comparable attack stats in PokeBattler, it shows that Haunter isn’t too good even with Shadow Claw, suggesting Banette be the same. We will see what actually happens when Banette actually drops.

As far as defense goes, Banette is lighter than Misdrevous, you know what does that means 🙂

Haunter Stats for Comparison

ATTACK 223
DEFENCE 112
STAMINA 90
MAX CP 1716

2. Dusclops

ATTACK 124
DEFENCE 234
STAMINA 80
MAX CP 1335

One thing that sets Dusclops apart from other Ghost-type Pokemon is its massive defense. Dusclops can be a boss in defense but its stamina speaks something different. Another Pokemon that has huge Defense and low stamina is Onix, which we all know isn’t a good defender because of it’s low CP and Stamina. The same goes with Dusclops.

Onix Stats

ATTACK 85
DEFENCE 288
STAMINA 70
MAX CP 1002

TL;DR All the Ghost-type Gen 3 are Crap.

3. Sableye

ATTACK 141
DEFENCE 141
STAMINA 100
MAX CP 1305

Thinking the last to be the best? Nah it isn’t the best and its total crap. The Stats of Sableye suggest it’s all around bad, its stats are even less than Misdreavus, if you’re unaware, has absolutely no impact on the offensive or defensive meta. There may be some hope for Sableye in the deep future with mega evolutions, but currently, it would be just looking good in our Pokedex.

Misdreavus Stats

ATTACK 167
DEFENCE 167
STAMINA 120
MAX CP 1781

Conclusion

We are definitely hyped for Gen 3 and the new Pokedex Entries but as far as the meta goes don’t expect the new release Pokemon to be in your winning team for battles. They will definitely look good in the Dex but not in the Battle team. As far as expecting the full Gen 3, we got Gen 2 babies in December and Full Gen 2 in February and the same is expected for Gen 3 to have the Ghost-type in October and we can expect the Full Gen in December or January.

If you want to compare stats of Gen 3 we have added all the Gen 3 list in our Pokedex page.
