Sinnoh Throwback Challenge: Guide for Catching Ground, Ghost and Steel Pokemon

The Pokemon GO Sinnoh Throwback Challenge is now live and can be considered a little difficult compared to the previous challenges due to task like catching Pokemon of certain types.

It has been noticed that many trainers are facing difficulties in catching Pokemon of Ground, Ghost and Steel Type Pokemon. We have compiled a comprehensive guide of where and which you can find Pokemon.

Catch A Ground-Type Pokemon

This task is from the Stage 4 of the Sinnoh Throwback challenge.

Hippopotas and Gible

The only ground types from Sinnoh that you can get from the wild are Hippopotas and Gible but they are very rare to get. There are other ways you can get a ground type.

Larvitar and Stunfisk

  1. Larvitar is one of the rewards from the GO Battle League (From Rank 8)
  2. Stunfisk is one of the rewards from the GO Battle League (From Rank 4-7)

Note: Stunfisk is a guaranteed reward for reaching Rank 4 if you haven’t played GBL or haven’t reached Rank 4.

Hippowdon

Hippowdon can found in the Tier 4 Raid. If you can’t move out than you can get help from local community players and friends in Remote Raid.

Alolan Diglett and Onix

Alolan Diglett and Onix can be attracted using the Magnetic Lure module in the nearby Pokestop.

Geodude

Update: It has been observed by many trainers that Niantic have increased the spawns of Geodude for easier completion of task. Check out your surrounding Geodude!

Catch A Ghost Type Pokemon

This task is from the Stage 5 of the Sinnoh Throwback challenge.

Drifloon

The only ghost type from Sinnoh that you can get from the wild is Drifloon, they are easier to find in the wild compared to the ground-type Pokemon.

If you’re finding it difficult to find Drifloon, we recommend you to use incense during night time and you will definitely find one.

Alternatively Drifloon can also be found in Tier 1 Raid.

Litwick

Litwick is one of the rewards from the GO Battle League (From Rank 8)

Misdreavus

Update: It has been observed by many trainers have reported that Niantic have increased the spawns of Misdreavus for easier completion of task. Check out your surrounding Misdreavus!

Catch A Steel Type Pokemon

This task is from the Stage 6 of the Sinnoh Throwback challenge.

This task can be considered the easier from the above 2

Bronzor

Remember the Spotlight hour? It is happening this Tuesday and Bronzor is the featured Pokemon.

Hope you all reach stage 6 before spotlight hour to easily complete this task.

Beldum, Metagross and Skarmory

  1. Beldum is one of the rewards from the GO Battle League (From Rank 4-10)
  2. Metagross is one of the rewards from the GO Battle League (From Rank 1-10)
  3. Skarmory is one of the rewards from the GO Battle League (From Rank 4-10)

Klink, Bastiodon and Bronzong

  1. Klink can be found in Tier 1 Raid
  2. Bastiodon can be found in Tier 3 Raid
  3. Bronzong can be found in Tier 4 Raid

Meltan

Mystery Box (requires Nintendo Switch and a copy of Let’s Go Eevee / Pikachu)

Apart from all this, you can also get Pokemon of these types from corresponding Rocket Grunt battle encounter.
