Trainers, today we’re here with some exciting news and it’s about the everyone’s favourite little green onion Pokemon Celebi!

Celebi was just announced as a worldwide special research starting on August 20th 2018.

Here’s the short summary of the Update:

  • Research Tasks will be made available on August 20th.
  • You can start research on Celebi after you have completed Mew up to Stage 3, then work on the two side by side.
  • Trainers from GO Fest 2018 will be not receive second Celebi, They will still have a chance to complete and will receive a new bounty of Candy to power up the Celebi.
  • Johto Pokemon are hinted to spawn more often, and there will be field research tasks featuring more Johto Pokemon.
  • A new Celebi T-shirt will be available for free in the Style Shop.
  • Pokémon HeartGold and Pokémon SoulSilver Trainer avatar items will also be available in the Style Shop, featuring outfits that unlock according to your Johto medal progress.

  • A total of five steps to complete
  • Challenges to hatch an Egg, earn Buddy Candy and visit PokéStops
  • Catching Unown, Plusle and Minun
  • Story text hinting at Celebi’s time travelling abilities
