Pokemon Go Trading, Friends and Gifting
Friends
You will be soon able to connect with your real-world friends in Pokemon GO! The Friends feature will start rolling out to Trainers later this week
- You’ll be able to send them items, earn bonuses and trade Pokémon!
- You deal more damage when raiding with friends.
- You will additional raid boss bonus when raiding with a friend.
- Your trades are discounted when trading with a higher level friend.
Adding Friends
- Ask your Friend to share the Invite code
- Enter the Invite Code and send the request
- If they accept, you’ll become friends, and you’ll see them in your Friends List.
Gifting (Alolan Hype)
Now spinning a Photo Disc at a PokéStop or Gym will chance of dropping a special Gift, but there’s a catch! you can’t open the Gifts you receive from PokéStops, you can send them to a friend on your Friend List.
Gift Items
Inside the Gift will be a stash of helpful items, Gifts can also include a special surprise: an Egg that, when hatched, will contain an Alolan form of a Pokémon originally discovered in the Kanto region!
Friendship Level
When you send a Gift to a friend or participate in a raid or Gym battle with them, you can increase your Friendship Level. As your Friendship Level builds, you’ll then unlock bonuses when you play together. You can increase your Friendship Level once per day per friend.

Pokemon GO Trading
You can also build your Friendship Level by trading Pokémon with a friend. Minimum Level 10 is required for trading, on completing a trade you will earn bonus candy for the Traded Pokemon, bonus may increase if the Pokemon you traded were caught in locations far apart from each other
All trades are powered by Stardust, and some trades require more Stardust than others. As you build your Friendship Level with the friend you are trading with, you’ll find that you can complete the trade with much less Stardust.
- You need to be within 100 meters of a friend to trade
- IVs are re-rolled when you transfer Pokemon, do not trade your 100% IV Pokemon
- Regular trades cost 100 Stardust a piece
- Candy Bonuses depends on the distance between locations where Pokemon were caught
- You get maximum Candy Bonuses when you trade Pokemon that were caught at 100 KM distance apart (and higher)
Special Trading
Special trading applies when trading Legendary, Shiny or not yet caught Pokemon
- Special Trading costs Stardust and are unlocked only with Great or Best Friend trainers
- You can only make one Special Trade a day
- 40000 Stardust per trade.
